| HACCP Certification |
| The Food and Drug Administration, on January 18, 2001, implemented a rule to increase the safety of fruit and vegetable juices. This rule states that all food processors (which includes re-packers) must implement and use a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
This will have a positive impact on importation. Currently, foreign countries do not have to have a HACCP plan to import. This new rule won't allow that to continue. This is to increase the safety of the foods brought into this country. If facilities are not HACCP "certified", they have to have some kind of similar plan registered with the Government. The deadline to get all of this done depends on the size of the facility.

| The final rulings for this act was December 12, 2003. All domestic and foreign facilities that manufactures, distributes, stores or co-packs food for human or animal consumption must be registered with the FDA by December 12, 2003.
All foreign facilities must have a US agent listed. This is for communication with the FDA only. This does not mean that the foreign facility can only do business with their US agent.
